Inspiring places to live, work, innovate and create.
Tech mega brand Google surprised the business world this week when they announced the change of their corporate structure and a re-naming of the corporate entity to ‘Alphabet’. Google co-founder and newly titled Alphabet CEO; Larry page contextualized the change by telling the media; “We’ve long believed that over time companies tend to get comfortable doing the same thing, just making incremental changes. But in the technology industry, where revolutionary ideas drive the next big growth areas, you need to be a bit uncomfortable to stay relevant”.
There’s can be no argument that Google has achieved it’s global brand status by truly and consistently innovating, and a key part of their innovation strategy has always been the design of stimulating, and inspiring work spaces to provide the right environment for innovation to flourish. Page’s comments this week inspired me to put-together a collection of images showing a range of innovative office spaces designed for Google over recent years.
Google’s offices are a reminder of the value of brand design focused on engagement when it is aimed inwardly at staff. Similarly, brand loyalty can be measured internally through length of employment, degree of passion and discretionary effort. And yes, tech giants with huge revenues (possibly paying very little tax) may have the office design budgets most brands can only dream of, but that is the role of inspiration after all; to have us aim higher than we otherwise would (Pics after the jump).
